Seafish SW Vessel Quality Adviser (and ex-beamer skipper/owner) John Hingley has already started discussions with skippers and buyers at Brixham on key issues affecting fish quality and especially the effects of temperatures (hot and cold) on fish quality and shelf-life.

In the coming weeks this work will be expanded to include Plymouth market.  Once a clear baseline has been established we will then seek to recognise  those vessels which consistently land good quality fish through the introduction of a Seafish SW Vessel Quality Award scheme. 

On the North Devon Coast John Butterwith of NDFA, will fulfil a similar role for the N Devon fleet.
