European Seafood Expo Brussels 2008  

Based on results of the post-show evaluation, Seafood Cornwall & Seafish South West will not be hosting a stand at the European Seafood Expo in 2008 (April 22-24).    

However, Seafish will be hosting a larger stand as part of the Food From Britain delegation in Hall 9 and have invited companies from Cornwall / South West visiting the show to use the stand as a ‘hot desk’ area to display promotional materials or hold meetings.

MSC Assessment underway

FIFG funding has been agreed for the Channel and West Sustainable Trawling Group (C&WSTG) - a collaboration of CFPO, SWFPO and Interfish – to conduct a full Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) assessment of beam trawl and trawl fisheries for Sole, Monk and Megs in the English Channel and SW approaches.

Work will commence early in the new year and should take between 12-18 months to complete.

Pre-MSC assessment reports are also underway for the Bristol Channel Ray and Bass fisheries (led by North Devon Fishermen’s Association)
